Description
Manufacture of Skoda keys
Every vehicle manufactured by the German VAG-group is equipped with state-of-the-art systems. “Skoda vehicles are manufactured using all the most advanced technologies available today. Therefore, each TP is equipped with a folding key with a chip. This serves as an anti-theft device as well as for remote access to the car. If a vehicle is purchased with a single set of keys, the possibility of producing a spare key should be considered (Skoda key production). Otherwise, if you lose your key, you will have to pay a significant amount for its replacement.
For your own security
The process of producing a duplicate key takes place in two stages: first, the mechanical part of the key is produced. However, it can only unlock the vehicle, but it cannot start the engine. To activate the car, a code is needed, which is written into the chip. This is a particularly difficult step and is almost impossible to handle on your own. It is therefore better to go to a service centre with the right equipment.
The folding key chip stores a unique code which is repeated in the vehicle control unit. When the car is opened using this device, the vehicle scans the data received. If the codes match, the car is activated, but if they do not, it locks up its systems as the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) receives a signal of a break-in. A car service technician will use diagnostic equipment to scan the cipher from the original key and insert it into the duplicate. They will also program the remote control of the unlocking device. The key can then be used to open the boot, raise the window glass, close the sunroof or panoramic roof.
The modern key can be reproduced not only from the original model, but also from the lock if necessary. However, such a service is much more expensive for the car owner. Therefore, the production of a replacement unlocking device should always be taken care of at the time of purchase.
