Description
Kia key manufacturing features
The use of modern technology allows craftsmen to produce a duplicate car key based on a worn-out original or lock. The second option is particularly relevant as it allows the production of car keys that have been lost due to carelessness or stolen. It is easy for a specialist to produce both a simple and a folding new Kia key.
Specifics of duplicate production
Depending on the level of difficulty of the task presented to the craftsman, the production of a replica Kia key can take minutes or hours. In any case, the specialist uses specialised equipment and blanks.
Professional key production is carried out in three stages:
blade production;
programming the chip and synchronising it with the security system;
entering the new data into the control panel.
The first operation is carried out using high-precision CNC machines. The machine’s database contains information on the parameters of key blades for various Kia models. This allows the production of blades with different groove depths, different overhang heights and different key widths. The blade manufacturing process makes it possible to produce a replica of the key that is a perfect match to the unworn original (if the key is made from a sample).
Programming is an operation to ensure that the vehicle responds to the key. To achieve this, all the necessary data shall be recorded in the immobiliser, either by means of a diagnostic connector, a memory image or by direct copying of the key. In order to synchronise the control system with the key, the immobiliser software shall be read or the key data scanned.
The final programming step is to check the functioning of the duplicate. When the duplicate key with buttons is produced, the final stage is the programming of the remote control. The technician usually provides a one-year warranty on the product, the software, the “binding” of the key to the car and the programming.
